At Shaftesbury Park, we aspire to excellence in all we do and this has resulted in us receiving the following prestigious awards:
Shaftesbury Park is very proud to have received the Community Award at this year’s Education Business Awards.
The annual Education Business Awards recognise schools that can display significant achievement or excellence in their specific category. We were nominated by awards researchers for the way in which our unique curriculum empowers children to make positive differences to their world, whether that be by campaigning on local issues or promoting campaigns on global issues from human rights to climate change. While many other schools were nominated for this award, Shaftesbury Park was oustanding amongst the field for making a difference across a wide range of issues, driven by the children themselves.
Commenting after winning, Mrs Richards the Headteacher said: “It was a real surprise! Just being recognised and entered was flattering, but to win the award against such strong competition from across the UK was just incredible. We are always proud of the children at Shaftesbury Park, and we were so pleased that the award organisers were as impressed as we are with all our school community does.”
We are proud to have been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark. This award recognises the excellent teaching of Science in our school and the opportunities for practical enquiries and cross-curricular learning. We have worked hard over the last year to develop our Science curriculum to ensure that the children are carrying out lots of exciting investigations across the key stages. Science Week provided a wonderful opportunity to enrich the children’s experiences of Science and the PSQM recognises the range of activities in class and workshops that our students have taken part in as part of this. This quality mark ensures that we have a good foundation for our Science teaching and learning on which we will continue to build over the next few years.
Shaftesbury Park is delighted to announce that we have just been awarded the Skills Builder Gold Award, the highest level possible.
This award has been bestowed upon us in recognition of all that our Enterprise Stream has achieved over the past 6 years and our exemplary commitment to ensuring that every pupil leaves Shaftesbury Park possessed of the eight essential skills needed to succeed. The achievement of this award means that we are now a flagship school for Enterprise and will have the opportunity to bring further resources and experiences for our pupils. It also means we will be working to develop essential skills in schools around the UK and abroad and using these connections to expand the world of our pupils and further promote a global perspective.
Shaftesbury Park is proud to have been reaccredited with the British Council’s prestigious International School Award.

The International School Award is a chance for schools to be recognised for their important work bringing the world into their classrooms. This is especially commendable when schools have been deeply affected by the global pandemic. The desire to build on their international work shines through and it is with upmost pride that we celebrate their achievements.”
Shaftesbury Park is proud to announce that we have received the Bronze Eco Schools Award, an internationally recognised accreditation, acknowledging our commitment to environmental education and becoming a sustainable school.
This is just the first step on our journey towards Green Flag status and has only been possible due to the hard work of our school Eco Warriors (10 pupils from Years 2 to 6) who have worked with Miss Carter to complete an environmental review of our school and create an eco action plan based on the results. This will be displayed in our school garden, alongside meeting minutes and information on what are current eco priorities are.
Well done to everyone involved in this fantastic achievement!
At Shaftesbury Park, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is at the heart of our policies, practise and ethos and we are extremely proud to have just been accredited with our Gold-level RR school award.
This is obviously a phenomenal achievement that recognises how the Rights Respecting agenda has become part of the fabric of Shaftesbury Park, with children not only learning about and understanding the Rights they have under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, but also applying this knowledge in their lives and being proactive in effecting the changes they wish to see, acting as global citizens and uphold the rights of others.
