Education Business Awards – Community Award (June 2022)

Shaftesbury Park is very proud to have received the Community Award at this year’s Education Business Awards.

The annual Education Business Awards recognise schools that can display significant achievement or excellence in their specific category. We were nominated by awards researchers for the way in which our unique curriculum empowers children to make positive differences to their world, whether that be by campaigning on local issues or promoting campaigns on global issues from human rights to climate change. While many other schools were nominated for this award, Shaftesbury Park was oustanding amongst the field for making a difference across a wide range of issues, driven by the children themselves.

Commenting after winning, Mrs Richards the Headteacher said: “It was a real surprise! Just being recognised and entered was flattering, but to win the award against such strong competition from across the UK was just incredible. We are always proud of the children at Shaftesbury Park, and we were so pleased that the award organisers were as impressed as we are with all our school community does.”

Primary Science Quality Mark (September 2021)

We are proud to have been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark.

This award recognises the excellent teaching of Science in our school and the opportunities for practical enquiries and cross-curricular learning. We have worked hard over the last year to develop our Science curriculum to ensure that the children are carrying out lots of exciting investigations across the key stages. Science Week provided a wonderful opportunity to enrich the children’s experiences of Science and the PSQM recognises the range of activities in class and workshops that our students have taken part in as part of this. This quality mark ensures that we have a good foundation for our Science teaching and learning on which we will continue to build over the next few years.
