Forest School

Shaftesbury Park Primary School is proud to be able to offer all children in our Nursery and Reception Classes the opportunity to participate in our innovative and fun Forest School Programme, which taps into children’s natural curiosity and inquisitiveness in order to help them develop skills crucial for future success whilst also learning about the world in which they live and how to take care of it.

Taking place in our school gardens or nearby Battersea Park, the Forest School programme places a strong emphasis on developing the child as a whole, growing self-esteem and boosting confidence in order that children become successful independent learners.

Carefully planned activities in the natural environment also support the EYFS curriculum, helping children to improve their fine and gross motor skills, use tools effectively, practice decision making and solve problems, alongside providing opportunities to put into practice their growing maths and literacy skills. Through group activities, children attending Forest School also learn about how to form relationships with peers and improve their language and communication skills.
