The Start and End of the School Day

The school week at Shaftesbury Park Primary School is 31.65 hours.

The school gates open at 8.45am, prior to the school day commencing at 8.55am. All children are expected to go straight to their classes for early morning activities.

The school day finishes at 3.15pm for children in Reception to Year 6 and at 3.00pm for children in the Nursery classes.

At the start and end of the school day, in order to minimise congestion, pupils and parents should use the following gates:

 

Assemblies

At Shaftesbury Park Primary School, we hold the following different types of assembly:

Singing Assemblies	A weekly chance for the children to learn and sing a wide range of songs from many different musical genre and backgrounds.
Praise Assembly	An important weekly occasion to recognise the children’s efforts and achievements in their day to day learning and behaviour.
Sharing Assemblies	A fantastic opportunity for the children to share their learning, helping them to develop confidence in public speaking and presentation.
Teacher’s Assembly	Important assemblies where we reflect on important values and themes, current events and other important subjects.

In addition to these, we also hold special Raising Aspirations assemblies throughout the school year when we welcome guest speakers from a wide range of different fields from doctors and lawyers to sportsmen and women to journalists and entrepreneurs who come to speak to the children about their chosen careers, their journey to where they are now and the lessons they have learned along the way, answering any questions the children may have.

In order that everyone has ample space to socialise and play, all playtimes and lunchtimes at Shaftesbury Park are staggered as follows:
