Ofsted

At Shaftesbury Park, we are proud of all of our achievements.

Ofsted

Shaftesbury Park has been graded as a ‘good’ school following our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2023.

Inspectors praised us for the following:

‘Pupils at Shaftesbury Park are kind, courteous and respectful to each other. This helps pupils feel safe and be kept safe at school. Many describe their school as ‘joyful’ and ‘welcoming’.’

‘Pupils are given opportunities to take their interests further and embody the school’s vision of being people who ‘think about, enlarge and change their world’.’

‘The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff typically have high expectations of pupils, and in turn, they produce work of good quality.. which matches, and in some areas exceeds, the scope of what is expected nationally.’

‘Reading is a top priority.’

‘Pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. Pupils get along splendidly with each other. Bullying is rare. Pupils know who to speak to if they have concerns and feel confident that any problems will be resolved. Leaders have effective systems in place to respond swiftly to any issues that may arise.’

‘Pupils’ wider personal development is strong. The curriculum is designed to help support pupils’ understanding of important issues, such as understanding right from wrong, citizenship and democracy… Pupils are encouraged to make a positive contribution to the wider community.’

‘Staff are very proud to work at the school.’

Comment on the report:

While the Ofsted inspection offers an assessment of our educational provision, it is important to acknowledge the inherent constraints within the inspection framework. Specifically, we wish to draw attention to two integral components of our curriculum that were not fully explored during the inspection process:

Our enterprise curriculum is designed to equip our pupils with essential skills such as entrepreneurship, leadership, and problem-solving, preparing them for success in an ever-evolving global landscape. Through hands-on projects, real-world challenges and partnerships with local businesses, our pupils are empowered to think innovatively and adaptively.

Similarly, our bilingual French-English curriculum is another cornerstone of our educational philosophy, providing students with a unique opportunity to explore both languages while fostering cultural appreciation and global awareness. This immersive approach not only enhances language skills but also promotes cognitive development and cross-cultural understanding.

Including the breadth and depth of both these exciting offers in the Ofsted report would have gone some way to fully reflecting the outstanding ambition and innovation of our school.
