Celebrating National Recognition for Our Bilingual Curriculum

We are delighted to share some exciting news about the continued recognition of the bilingual curriculum at Shaftesbury School.

Our work has recently been featured on Language Educators Online (LEO), a national professional platform developed by University College London (UCL). LEO has now been released to the general public, and we are proud to see our bilingual practice showcased as an example of effective and innovative language education. It is encouraging to know that our approach is attracting national attention and inspiring other school leaders to explore the benefits of bilingual education.

Our connections with national organisations are also continuing to grow. We have recently been contacted by Pamela Cairns from the British Council, who is keen to learn more about our bilingual provision and support its wider promotion. Filming will take place in the New Year to highlight the excellent work happening in our bilingual classrooms, and we look forward to sharing further updates as these exciting plans develop.

In addition, Shaftesbury School was represented at a national roundtable discussion hosted by the National Centre for Language Education (NCLE). The event, “Curriculum and Assessment Review: Languages education fit for purpose?”, brought together representatives from the Department for Education alongside key voices from across the languages education community. It was a privilege to contribute to these important discussions and share our experiences as part of the wider conversation about the future of language learning in schools.

We are extremely proud of our pupils, staff, and wider school community, whose dedication and commitment make this work possible. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to keeping you informed as our bilingual provision continues to gain recognition on the national stage.
