Shaftesbury Park pupil in Wimbledon final
Although this year’s Wimbledon has seen some exceptional tennis, our highlight was seeing one of our year 6 pupils, Ambrose, perform the coin toss to get the men’s final underway.
Every year, the Wimbledon Foundation invites their four nominated charities to suggest someone to perform the coin-toss at the singles and wheelchair singles finals.
We were already excited that Junction Elite were one of the charities. Aside from the great work they do in the area, they run sessions at Shaftesbury Park and were founded by a former Shaftesbury Park pupil! But we were thrilled when we heard they had named Ambrose for the coin toss.
Throughout his time at Shaftesbury Park, Ambrose has brought joy, energy, and enthusiasm to everything. Even after he was diagnosed with bone cancer last year, his positive attitude remained. After a tough year of chemotherapy and treatment, he rang the cancer all-clear bell a few months ago.
We’ve loved seeing Ambrose (and family) enjoy his preparations for the coin-toss and seeing his big moment; Junction Elite couldn’t have chosen a better ambassador than Ambrose.
